The West Valley’s groundwater numbers
The West Valley leans on groundwater more than any other part of the metro, and the published numbers swing street to street. EPCOR’s 2024 Agua Fria report — covering big pieces of Surprise and the Sun Cities — lists hardness anywhere from 2 to 17 grains per gallon, arsenic up to 7.21 ppb, and TTHMs with a 49.8 ppb running average. Buckeye’s districts have published hardness from 9.8 all the way to 27.3 gpg with arsenic 4.6–8.3 ppb, and Surprise maintains a dedicated arsenic information page for its groundwater system.
